The lighting of the unity candle will provide you the opportunity to acknowledge the strong family ties that you wish to bring into your marriage. As the lighting is taking place, your minister or a selected speaker can address the subject with a passage or a family oriented reading. To represent the love carried from generation to generation, start the unity candle with the grandparents.It is then passed on to the parents and completes with the bride and groom. To symbolize the family unit leave the two outside candles lit.
